Protect from frost. Allow soil to dry completely in between watering’s. Aloe plants that need to be watered do not wilt: the leaves get thinner (less plump), because the plant has begun to tap in to the water reserves it stores there. Plants that have been overwatered will have swollen, heavy leaves that feel squishy to the touch. In my experience over watering Aloe plants is more harmful to them than under watering. If you are unsure about weather or not your Aloe needs water, don’t water.
For productive plants fertilize every month or two during the growing season and pot-up when the plant fills its pot with roots.
