Roman Chamomile

Perennial, medicinal. Grow in moist soils or area that can be watered often. Very cold hardy. With trimming, this species can create a tough groundcover: when plant begins to flower, trim back to 3 – 5 inches tall. This forces horizontal vegetative growth. Plant gives off a heady, pleasant, soothing fragrance when crushed or walked on. One of my favorite smelling plants.
Roman Chamomile flowers make a pleasant and calming tea. Great after a large meal to settle stomach. Good for after a busy day at work or before bed. The tea also makes a soothing rinse for rashes and insect bites or as an aftershave.
