Thimbleberry

Rubus parviflorus

Native, eatable. Deciduous perennial with large, soft maple-shaped leaves. Grows 2-5ft tall. Thrives in shad or sunny location with moist soil. Clusters of white flowers give way to tasty raspberry-like fruits with deep red color in summer. Thimbleberry is in the raspberry family and forms patches that can be very low maintenance when growing conditions are optimal. Good choice for forest edges, shady garden locations. Fruit ripens in July.
